The pools are with a rich and gray travertine mud. A mud that gets touted for its restorative properties. There’s a certain primitive nature to these pools. Yet, the one closest to the parking lot is an ADA-accessible cement tub. It can fit larger groups of 4-8 people.
During a visit, walk past the outhouse restrooms while following along the pathway. The path will lead to several smaller pools. Scattered throughout the valley, these smaller pools dot the mountainside.
Unfortunately, I only snagged a couple pics of the pool, and its view. Most likely due to being fortunate and having the pool to myself. I was able to relax and soak in the mountain serenity, bringing along a feeling of peace and tranquility.
The Travertine Hot Springs are some of my favorite pools to soak in close to Reno, Nevada. These are only a 2.5 hour drive with camping areas close by. The drive is worth the time during both the summer and winter. However, if making the trek during the winter months, be sure to check the snow pack before taking off for the hot springs. Nobody wants to drive 2.5 hours only to have to drive back.
